TEDDY GREAVES JR.

Born in Jamaica, raised in the Bahamas and the United States, Teddy Greaves Jr’s presence at the Jack Tar Hotel in West End Grand Bahama, where his father and other bands perform developed in him a love for music. He has built upon these relationships and many others in collaborating with renowned directors and music producers in the music industry.

His rise to fame began at the age of 11 where he performed “Fly Me To The Moon” a classic by Frank Sinatra during a fundraiser at the Turtle Walk Supper Club in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. In the Bahamas, he was selected to become a member of the band T-Connection. On returning to the States to complete his education, Teddy Greaves Jr joined his high school choir and was selected to represent the region as a vocalist.

Afterward, he was introduced to the local reggae band called “Paul Lawton and the Night People” by Chamella Brown. After a successful outing with the band in Florida, Teddy joined the group called “Roots Uprising” which had Richard Bryce, Bentley Ray, Winston and Barry Marrah, Raynor Washington and “Gershi”, Cecil Ordonez and “Yishka”, Paul Fakourie (sp) and Mark Rockhead. The talented group drew the attention of a local producer who later produced “Family Tree” and “Is It Raining Outside” written by Teddy Greaves Jr. & B side and Richard Bryce respectively. The group’s resilience and hard work were rewarded as they won a spot to play at the Village Inn in Coconut Grove, Miami. It was at the Village Inn they caught the attention of “Inner Circle” who later recorded the “Beautiful Music” and “Magic City”.

Teddy Greaves Jr and his brothers won the heart of Stevie Wonder during a nationwide auditioning organized for the lead singer of the band named “Happiness Unlimited”. It was at this point that JaRock a group that consisted of Garth Bright, Dorrell “Fish” Salmon, Maurice Smith, Richie Barr, and Tony “Ruption” Williams, with Hart Richards as manager was formed. As a Military personnel, he continued making good music and formed bands like Aurora, Balero and he was honoured to perform at the Women’s Fast Pitch Softball Tournament held in Columbus, GA.

At present, Teddy Greaves Jr is working in collaboration with Yishka” and “Gershi” and Eugene Grey on a project called “American Roots Of Jamaican Music” and he is on the quest to become one of the most preeminent musicians that graced the music industry.

All of this has brought me to my current personal project and working closely with Joanna Marie of JTMC Muzik on a cover of Brian McKnight’s “One Last Cry”.
